BUS 2200 - Principles of Accounting

This introductory course provides students with a foundational understanding of accounting principles and practices, emphasizing the development of essential financial literacy skills.  Students will engage in activities that foster cognitive growth across multiple levels. Students will need to learn, remember, and define core accounting concepts, such as the accounting equation, the double-entry system, and accrual basis accounting.  They will understand the purpose and structure of key financial statements, including the balance sheet, income statement, owner equity statement, and cash flow statement, through explanations and real-world examples.  Additionally, students will apply what they have learned to prepare journal entries, ledger accounts, and basic financial statements for simplified business scenarios.  By the end of the course, students will be equipped with skills to accurately record transactions and interpret financial information, laying a foundation for further courses in accounting.
