From The Desk of The Dean…
Greetings from the College of Arts and Sciences at Columbia International University!
The mission of the College of Arts and Sciences is to educate students for life and service through biblical studies, creative arts and communication, as well as the health, natural, behavioral and social sciences. Biblical Studies:
The Division of Bible & Church Ministry forms students in the knowledge of Scripture and the practices of faithful ministry. Through programs in Bible, Bible Teaching, Youth & Family Ministry, and Church Ministry, students learn to interpret God’s Word with clarity, communicate it with conviction, and serve the Church with humility and skill. Our faculty integrate rigorous biblical study with practical ministry training, preparing graduates to lead, teach, disciple, and shepherd God’s people in a wide range of ministry contexts with wisdom, integrity, and a heart for the Great Commission.
Creative Arts and Communication:
The Division of Creative Arts & Communication cultivates storytellers, creators, and communicators who use their gifts to honor Christ and serve the world. Bringing together programs in Graphic Design, Digital Media and Cinematography, Strategic Communication, Music, English, and the Humanities, the division equips students to shape culture through thoughtful expression and compelling creativity. Our faculty integrate artistic excellence with a biblical worldview, preparing graduates to communicate truth with clarity, craft beauty with purpose, and engage a media-saturated world with integrity and imagination.
Health and Natural Sciences:
Health and Natural Sciences: The Division of Health and Natural Sciences prepares students to explore and steward God’s created world with scientific rigor, curiosity, and purpose. Through programs in Biology, Biomedical Sciences, Exercise Science & Kinesiology, and Health Sciences, students gain a deep understanding of the structures and systems that sustain life. Our faculty integrate evidence-based scientific training with the Biblical worldview, equipping graduates for service in healthcare, research, and the sciences. We develop professionals who approach their work with compassion, integrity, and a commitment to promoting health and wholeness in the communities they serve.
Behavioral and Social Sciences:
The Division of Behavioral and Social Sciences equips students to understand people through the lens of the Biblical worldview; how they think, develop, relate and flourish in community. Through programs in Psychology and Human Services, students learn to interpret huma behavior with both scholarly rigor and Christ-centered compassion. Our faculty prepare graduates to serve in a complex world with wisdom, integrity, and a commitment to restoring what is broken in the lives of individuals, families, and communities.
Every CIU program will challenge you to grow biblically, intellectually, and spiritually as you develop the skills you need to serve in today’s world. May the Lord give you the grace to pursue His calling, whatever it is and wherever it takes you
Yours in Christ,
David A. DeWitt, Ph.D.
