Overview
Humanities is the classic liberal arts study of human culture as diplayed in literature, art, philosophy, history, and language. The Humanities program introduces students to a core curriculum of Great Books, offering a rich and flexible preparation for life by equipping students to read, write, and think critically from a Christian worldview. A Humanities degree provides a solid foundation for graduate and seminary studies as well as careers in teaching, law, church ministries and cross-cultural work.
Objectives
The objectives of the Humanities program are to:
- Provide an educational forum for students to read and discuss Great Books.
- Develop practice and proficiency in the disciplines of reading, writing, critical thinking, and library research.
- Develop a foundational understanding of influentual currents of human thoughts and creative expression represented in literature, art, philosophy, history, and language.
- Encourage students to use the Christian Scriptures as sources of integration for various fields of knowledge.
- Assist students in their ability to understand and articulate a Christian worldview.

Recommendation: As part of their eight courses of open electives, Humanities majors are encouraged to consider taking four Bible classes for a double major in Humanities and Bible.
