Purpose
CIU’s mission is to educate people from a biblical world view to impact the nations with the message of Christ. Persons graduating with a master’s degree in Public Administration will be fully equipped to fulfill God’s purposes as leaders and civil servants within most governmental, business and professional service organizations.
Objectives
Upon completion of this major, graduates should be able to:
- Examine the teachings of Scripture and a Christian worldview and their relationships to public administration.
- Evaluate the histories, purposes, and responsibilities of public institutions to effectively serve constituencies.
- Apply theories of public administration to appropriately lead and serve for the common good.
- Employ strategies that demonstrate self-awareness and professionalism to lead and serve within the public sector.
Admissions Requirements:
- Submit an online application
- Have earned a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution, with a cumulative undergraduate grade point average (GPA) of 2.75 or higher. Applicants must submit one official transcript from all colleges/universities attended (undergraduate and graduate work). These transcripts must be sent directly (by mail or email) from the institution directly to CIU.
- Have prior credit of a college math course (grade “C” or higher), reflected on transcript, or equivalent.
- Have prior credit of a college English Composition course (grade “C” or higher), reflected on transcript, or equivalent.
Transfer Policies
Students may transfer in up to six hours from prior related graduate level work, subject to the approval of the MPA Program Director. See the complete transfer policy here.
Graduation Requirements:
- Successful completion of the approved MPA curriculum with a minimum of 30 graduate semester hours of coursework
- A minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher in the MPA program
- Any course in which a grade of a C- or below is earned must be repeated
- Successful completion of the capstone course with a minimum grade of B-
