Overview

Humanities is the classic liberal arts study of human culture as diplayed in literature, art, philosophy, history, and language. The Humanities program introduces students to a core curriculum of Great Books, offering a rich and flexible preparation for life by equipping students to read, write, and think critically from a Christian worldview. A Humanities degree provides a solid foundation for graduate and seminary studies as well as careers in teaching, law, church ministries and cross-cultural work.

Objectives

The objectives of the Humanities program are to:

Provide an educational forum for students to read and discuss Great Books.
Develop practice and proficiency in the disciplines of reading, writing, critical thinking, and library research.
Develop a foundational understanding of influentual currents of human thoughts and creative expression represented in literature, art, philosophy, history, and language.
Encourage students to use the Christian Scriptures as sources of integration for various fields of knowledge.
Assist students in their ability to understand and articulate a Christian worldview.
