Overview

Humanities is the study of human culture as displayed in literature, art, philosophy, and history. The Humanities program offers a rich and flexible preparation for life and graduate study by equipping students to read, write, and think critically in the context of a Christian worldview. Humanities provides a solid preparation for graduate and seminary studies, as well as careers in teaching, law, church ministries, and cross-cultural engagement.

Objectives

The objectives of the Humanities program are to:

Develop practice and skill in the art of reading, writing, critical thinking, and library research.
Develop a foundational understanding of influential cultural currents of human thought and creative expression represented in literature, art, philosophy, history, and language.
Encourage students to use the Christian Scriptures and theology as sources of integration for various fields of knowledge.
Assist students in their ability to understand and articulate a Christian worldview.
