CNS 9000 - Year One Residency: Orientation and Integration

The purpose of Residency 1 is to socialize new students into the CIU doctoral community of scholar practitioners. Topics include doctoral competency development, orientation to academic support services and networking, community building, writing at the doctoral level and using American Psychological Association style, library search skill building, professional development, and foundational skills and perspectives on the process of contextualization and integration of faith and biblical worldview throughout this program. Upon completion, students will have completed a self-assessment and identified goals for continual development of the skills and practices required of new doctoral students. Throughout the residencies, doctoral students will also provide mentoring, modeling, academic support, and instruction for master’s level counseling students. Prerequisite: Admission to the program; Co-requisite: CNS 9200.
