CNS 9460 - Clinical Supervision & Consultation Credits: 3
Consultation and Clinical supervision of counselors and counselors in training necessitates extensive knowledge of the major conceptual approaches, methods, and techniques; ethical and legal issues of supervisory relationships and responsibilities; and the process of evaluation for development. Students will develop their professional identity and skills as a clinical supervisor, engaging in experiential applications, discussions, and self-reflective assignments focused on the strategies for working with supervises across diverse backgrounds and developmental ranges. After a critical analysis of the literature on supervision and consultation, the purpose of supervision, theoretical frameworks, and models of supervision, students will develop and apply their own theory of supervision in practice by supervising a group of practicum students while under their own supervision.
