CNS 9414 - Advanced Quantitative Research Methodology


Credits: 3

This research course builds upon knowledge and skills acquired in Quantitative Research Methodology and will provide experience applying them. This course will provide students with more specialized knowledge and skills for designing quantitative research at the doctoral level, including understanding multivariate data analysis and applying more advanced statistical concepts to hone methods for application in the dissertation. Students will explore comprehensive quantitative research designs and suitable statistical tests, the importance of quality assurance, and ethical considerations and worldview implications of conducting quantitative research and producing knowledge. This course will utilize a problem-solving perspective with an emphasis on the selection of and practice with appropriate statistical tests for more complex research questions or problems. Students will use software to calculate statistics and interpret and present results, applying and synthesizing their knowledge and skills by developing a quantitative research plan, providing a methodological foundation for the Dissertation Proposal.
