ENG 2140 - Great Characters in Western Literature


Credits: 3

This course introduces students to major types of characters who reappear in literature from different times and places. Examples include the rebel, the wise fool, the misfit or outsider, the romantic, the impostor, the Christ-figure, or the artist.  Students will engage with a variety of literary genres, such as drama, epic and lyric poetry, novel, short story, autobiography, or essay.  Students will be encouraged to develop a biblical understanding of the character type.
