CNS 9415 - Advanced Qualitative Research Methods


Credits: 3

This research course builds upon knowledge and skills acquired in Qualitative Research Methodology and will provide experience applying them. This course will provide students with more specialized knowledge and skills for designing qualitative research at the doctoral level, including understanding grounded theory, ethnographic, and phenomenological methodologies and the development of advanced level qualitative research skills to hone methods for application in the dissertation. Utilizing a problem-solving perspective with an emphasis on the selection of and practice with appropriate methods for a research design, students will practice qualitative data collection, analysis, and oral and written data presentation. Students will apply and synthesize their knowledge and skills by developing a qualitative research plan, providing a methodological foundation for the Dissertation Proposal.
