THE 6375 - Ecclesiology Credits: 3
This course provides a theological survey of the doctrine of the church. You will examine the constitutional documents from various ecclesiastical traditions, discuss vital elements of the role, purpose, and function of the church, and think through your position on critical aspects of pastoral and ecclesiological ministry. Brief attention will be given to the nature and historical context of ecclesiological development before delving into the various traditions and doctrines that encompass the church. Although the focus will be on the Western tradition, there will be opportunities to engage with disparate traditions and reflect on the various interpretations of baptism, membership, communion, discipline, liturgy, and polity.
