The Hebrew minor provides students with in-depth training in the original language of the Old Testament. It prepares students to apply their training in such areas as exegesis and Bible translation and to use their training as a foundation for graduate study or research.
In addition to the mission statement, general objectives and requirements of the bachelor’s degree, the objectives of the Hebrew minor are to enable students to:
Master an intermediate-level understanding of the grammar and syntax of Old Testament Hebrew.
Practice aided reading and produce accurate translations of Old Testament texts into English.
Understand the texts of the Old Testament against their historical, literary, and cultural backgrounds.
