Master of Sacred Theology


Objectives

The Master of Sacred Theology degree equips graduates to engage in academic research and writing at the postgraduate level in the disciplines of Biblical Studies, Practical Theology, or Theological Studies.

  1. Upon completion of the program, students will be able to:
  1. Demonstrate familiarity with key foundational knowledge areas in the scholarship of their chosen discipline.
  2. Evaluate precedent research in the area of their chosen discipline.
  3. Engage in academic research and writing at the postgraduate level.

Special Admission Requirements

  • Previous acceptance into the seminary PhD program.
  • Completion of three foundational seminars.
  • Completion of at least 15 hours of research and writing courses.

Completion Requirements

  • Successful completion of three foundational seminars with a cumulative GPA of 3.3.
  • Successful completion of BIB/PTH/THE 9000 Comprehensive Knowledge Review.
  • Completion of at least 30,000 words of written work.
  • Affirmation of the CIU Statement of Faith.
