Purpose
The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (RN-BSN) program is designed for the licensed registered nurse (RN) who has earned an Associate’s degree or Diploma in nursing. The program focus will be to provide professional excellence with compassionate care and the courses will be taken one at a time in a 5 week format. Faculty will guide the students’ learning towards systems leadership and efficiencies, continuous care improvement, and Christ-like caring and professional growth.
Objectives
- Integrate theory and scientific knowledge into holistic nursing care planning and patient education.
- Deliver culturally competent and safe population care to patients in diverse environments as a valued interprofessional team member.
- Exhibit ethical, moral, spiritual, professional, and positive, caring behaviors as a Christian nurse.
- Seek continual personal and professional growth and improvement.
- Constructively advocate for system changes to improve the health care environment and patient outcomes.
- Employ collaborative leadership and organizational skills in nursing care of patients across the lifespan.
Admission Requirements

- A valid unencumbered registered nurse (RN) license.
- Graduation from an accredited Associate’s degree or Diploma nursing program.
- Current resume or curriculum vitae.
- Personal interview with one or more faculty members.
Transfer Policy
CIU offers a transfer policy that ensures RNs with an associate degree are allowed the maximum credit possible to meet General Education and elective course requirements. RNs who have graduated from an accredited institution are eligible for up to 81 semester hours. For students who have completed less than 81 hours transferable hours, they must complete the minimum 120 hours by taking additional elective courses. See the complete transfer policy here.

Prerequisites (81)
Students who are licensed registered nurses (RN) with an earned Associates Degree or diploma in nursing from an accredited institution and meet the specific course requirements outlined below are eligible to transfer up to 81 credit hours toward the general education and electives of the B.S.N. degree. All the specific course requirements below should be met at acceptance, otherwise the student must meet these requirements prior to graduation.
